A church is more than the building it occupies. A church is created by the people and what they do inside and beyond the walls to help fulfill the teachings of Jesus. At Living Faith we strive to offer support and help to meet the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of our congregation and the larger community. Below are a few of the ways we seek to do this:
Includes Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, participation in the church’s service ministries, etc. A fun creative children’s message is part of the Sunday morning worship, followed by Children’s Church. For some end-of-summer fun and fellowship, each year, we sponsor a Back-To-School Bash for children in our church and community.
Prayer and Prayer Emails
Informs the entire congregation of prayer concerns within and beyond the church family and community as a whole. Such concerns are also shared and prayed for during the Sunday worship service.
Church Fellowship Times
Fellowship to deepen our relationships with each other. These gatherings sometimes include a meal. We laugh together and at ourselves, sharing stories and uplifting each other at the same time. The sense of a genuine loving accepting community is one of the important qualities we cherish.
This is something we are expanding upon. We plant a large garden each year to share fresh produce with the community. We maintain a Food Pantry supported by member donations. We found a niche of the community in need of food that we strive to support. We have partnered with some home health nurses and aides that take prepared boxes of food to patients.
This is one of the many outreach ministries we support. It was begun by the Brethren as “Heifer Project” and has expanded to an independent organization global recognized for its accomplishments and fiscal management as it continues to provide the precious gift of livestock and livestock care training to the poor in 125 countries.
Hot Dog Sales
We hold hot dog sales once a month for most months of the year. Not only do we raise funds to support youth and children activities, more importantly we connect with the community. We are fortunate that many people who are not members of Living Faith feel comfortable to stop by sometimes to talk to our Pastor or other members about issues in their life. Our hot dog sale can be a safe place for those that want to talk about a burden they are facing.
